Eid al-Adha in Mumbai, India was celebrated yesterday, 28 november 2009, a day later than it was celebrated in Malaysia. The Consul General of Malaysia in Mumbai, Mr. Wan Zaidi b. Wan Abdullah and his wife, Puan Zuhaila bt. Abd. Latif had generously invited all Muslim Malaysians in Mumbai and their families to their official residence in Bandra, Mumbai, India to celebrate the day.

All guests were requested to gather at their place not later than 9.30 a.m. on 28 November 2009 for the takbir, Eid al-Adha prayer, khutbah and recital of doa. The Eid al-Adha was led by En. Noraslan Hadi Abdul Kadir and khutbah was delivered by the Consul General himself. Photography session was carried out soon after the khutbah was over.

Guests were then ushered to the dining hall where they would be enjoying the food prepared and brought over by the ladies of the PERWAKILAN MUMBAI. At about 11.00 am, some of them already made their exit but to those who stayed back, the Consul General had a karoke session arranged just for them.

It’s that time of the year again when the Malaysians in Mumbai gathered once again for the occasion where the excitement meets the challenge – Malaysian Sports day 2009 organised by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai, India. Badminton, bowling and football tournaments were set up for the participants and were carried out on two different dates, at two different venues.


Date: Sunday, 15 November 2009.

Timing: 11.00 am to 4.00pm.

Location: American School of Bombay, Bandra-Kurla, Mumbai, India.

Everybody did have fun it seemed. Before the prizes were handed out, the Consul General of Malaysia in Mumbai, Mr. Wan Zaidi bin Wan Abdullah took the chance to congratulate all winners and thank all sponsors and those who attended the event. The participants were full of praise for their sporting spirit shown throughout this year’s Malaysian Sports Day. On behalf on the organiser, Mr. Wan Zaidi informed that they were looking forward to organising more events such as this in the future.

The Consulate General of Malaysia wishes to thank you in advance for your participation in the forthcoming Malaysian Sports Day 2009 on 15 and 22 November 2009.

The registration for Badminton and Football is now closed and latecomers can only be considered for bowling games. Your badminton partners, football and bowling teams have been drawn. Kindly check your team members in the attached tables.

The Badminton tournament will be on Sunday, 15 November 2009  at ASB Multi Purpose Hall, BKC. The tournament will start at 11 am sharp and must be completed by 3.00 pm. Kindly be at the venue BEFORE 11.00 am. Participant must bring their own racquets.

Those who want to practice with their partners may attend the final practice on Friday, 13 November at 6.30 pm – 9.00pm at the same venue.

During Badminton tournament on 15 November 2009, children are not allowed to be in the Hall. The arrangement has been made for children to play at playground to be supervised by the Consulate Staff. The Consulate is however not liable to any accident or injury involving children. Those taking part in the tournament while having children below 5 years old are strongly advised to bring along their nanny as not to expose them to any danger.

Mineral water and some food will be provided during the Badminton tournament. Participants are however encouraged to bring along their food on a pot luck basis to be shared with others. Paper plates and plastic cutlery and plastic cup will be provided by the Consulate. Contribution of soft drinks is very much welcomed.

Bowling and football events on Sunday, 22nd November will be at The Club Juhu.  Kindly be at the venue NOT LATER THAN 11.30 am as registration and fees collection will be made prior to the start of the games. The events on 22nd November 2009 is expected to end by 6.00pm.

The PERWAKILAN Mumbai Members’ Meeting 3/2009 was held  on 10 November 2009 at the residence of Mrs. Huma Kausar in Powai, Mumbai. The meeting was opened by the Chairman of PERWAKILAN Mumbai, Mrs. Zuhaila Abd Latif at 11.00am. The meeting was preceded by a cooking demonstration (preparation of Biryani rice) by Mrs. Huma Kausar.

 Among the matters discussed during the meeting were as follows:

1. Chairman thanked Mrs. Huma Kausar for hosting the meeting and for demonstrating the preparation of biryani as well as sharing the recipe. The Chairman also welcomed the new members of PERWAKILAN Mumbai. They are Mrs. Mahera Ahmad, Mrs. Rahfesta Rahman, Mrs. Shareena Nordin, Mrs. Masyitah and Mrs. Emba.

2. Chairman also thanked all those who had helped out in Malaysia’s participation during the Melting Pot Charity Bazaar, including the children who had taken part in a Joget  performance. As agreed by the main Committee, some pocket money would be given to these children as an appreciation to their hard work and encouragement for them to continue participating in future events.

3. The meeting also discussed  certain preparations for the Malaysian Sports Days, which require PERWAKILAN’s involvement including the Consulate’s request for a potluck during the Badminton tournament on 15 November 2009. 

4. On behalf of PERWAKILAN,the  Chairman wished Mrs. Huma Kausar and her husband a safe trip to Makkah to perform the Haj and also wished them  to get a ‘ Haji Mabrur’.

The meeting  adjourned at 1.00pm and next meeting will be the AGM ( annual general meeting- the place and date will announce later). As the meeting over, PERWAKILAN Mumbai celebrated the birthday of some members of PERWAKILAN birthday.

Note : PERWAKILAN Mumbai would like to thank all members  who had contributed some desserts for the lunch.


Majlis Bacaan Yassin bulanan yang ke-6 anjuran PERWAKILAN Mumbai telah diadakan di kediaman Pn. Nur Fadzlin Ramli pada 5/11/2009. Pada kali ini majlis bacaan yassin telah di adakan pada jam 11 pagi dan hanya dihadiri oleh ahli-ahli PERWAKILAN sahaja memandangkan ianya di buat pada waktu bekerja dan persekolahan. Majlis telah di buka dengan ucapan ringkas dari Pn. Asiah Jaafar selaku AJK Pembelajaran dan Agama, ucapan terima kasih dari Pn. Pengerusi PERWAKILAN dan juga ucapan dari tuan rumah iaitu Pn. Nur Fadzlin.

Majlis di teruskan dengan bacaan yassin beramai- ramai dan di teruskan lagi dengan tahlil ringkas dan bacaan doa selamat oleh Pn. Asiah Jaafar.

Setelah selesai, ahli-ahli PERWAKILAN telah dijemput untuk makan tengahari dimana menunya disediakan secara potluck. Antara menu utama ialah nasi putih, sup tulang, tomyam, pari bakar, mi sarawak dan kuih muih. Majlis bersurai pada 1.30 petang.
