24/2/2012 – GONG XI FA CAI CELEBRATION WITH THE LADIES

This year’s Gong Xi Fa Cai, Perwakilan Mumbai ladies celebrate the Year of the Dragon at Mainland China Restaurant, Bandra. The ladies enjoyed a wonderfull delicious buffet lunch. The event ended with the birthday celebration for Puan Salwani and Puan Siti Khadijah.

 

20/1/2012 – VISIT TO EXCLUSIVE WEDDING LIFESTYLE EXHIBITION

On 20th January 2012, Perwakilan Mumbai ladies visited the Exclusive Wedding Lifestyle Exhibition at the JW Marriott Hotel, Juhu, Mumbai. The exhibition provide its customers the best wedding attire, jewelleries and tressour collections from elite brands.

APAM

Ingredients

  • Flour                  2 cups  
  • Rice flour ( Cap teratai)              2 cups
  • Sugar                    1 cup + 1 tspn for yeast mixture
  • Water                   2 cups
  • Yeast (Mauripan)        1 pkt ( 11 gm)
  • Warm water      ½ cup
  • Eno ( regular )              1 pkt (5 gm)
  • Coconut – grated        ½ coconut
  • Salt  to taste

 Method

1)      Mix yeast, warm water and 1 tspn of sugar in a big bowl . Let it rise

2)      Mix flour, rice flour water and sugar in a blender and mix well till sugar is dissolved. U may need to divide the mixture into 2 batches and later add in together so that there is no lumps in the mixture

3)      Add mixture to the yeast mixture and let it to proof for 3 – 8 hours. Best is to do this in the morning and steam it in the late afternoon or overnight and steam it in the early morning

4)      Prepare the steamer and have the water properly boiled before you start steaming the apam mixture

5)      Steam the coconut for about 10 minutes

6)      Add salt to the coconut and mix well

7)      Oil the apam mould and arrange them into the steamer tray

8)      Just when u are about the start the steaming add eno and quickly stir

9)      Divide the mixture into 3 and add food coloring of your choice. The norm is red, green and yellow.

10)   Pour mixture into the mould and place it into the steamer. Cook for 15 minutes

11)   Remove Apam from steamer and remove them from the mould.

12)   Place grated coconut on top of apam and serve

KARIPAP PUSING MAHANI

 

KARIPAP PUSING

Skin (Kulit)

Ingredients ( Mixture A)

  • Flour      3 Cup
  • Water     1 Cup +  Additional if necessary
  • Butter    25gm

Method

  • Mix flour and butter
  • Add water and knead to a pliable dough
  • Divide into 7 balls

Ingredients (Mixture B)

  • Flour       1 Cup
  •  Butter    75gm (Room Temperature)
  • Salt          1/2 teaspoon

Method

  • Mix all ingredients till you can make into a ball
  • Divide into 7 balls
  • Take a ball of Mixture A
  • Flattened and place one ball of mixture B. Close up the dough
  • Finish with the rest and leave covered for 1 hour
  • Roll out one dough till 1/2 inch thick
  • From edge roll till end
  • Flattenned and roll out again till 1/2 inch thick
  • Repeat from edge roll till end
  • Cut into 6 pieces
  • Take one piece and roll out
  • Fill up with fillings and seal up
  • Pinch and fold the edge

Filling (Inti)

Ingredients

  • Potatoes (medium) – diced 1/2 inch cube    6 nos
  • Onion – chopped    2 nos
  • Curry Leaves    1/2 sprig
  • Chicken meat – dices    100gm
  • Curry powder   1 tblspn
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil   3 tblspn

Method

  • Boil potatoes till cook
  • Heat oil. Add curry leaves
  • Add onions and fry till soft
  • Add chicken and fry for 2 mins
  • Add water to curry powder and turn it into a paste
  • Add curry paste and continue frying till the fragrant comes out
  • Add some water
  • Put in strained boiled potatoes
  • Add salt to taste and cook for another 10 mins

20/12/2011 – COOKING CLASS “KARIPAP PUSING & APAM”

Perwakilan Mumbai held a cooking class on 20th Dec 2011 at Puan Salwani’s resident in Powai, Mumbai. This time the ladies learnt “Karipap pusing” and “Apam” demonstrated by Puan Mahani. The ladies had “Soto Ayam” for lunch and potluck.

Perwakilan Mumbai would like to thank Puan Mahani for sharing her recipee with us. The class ended with Puan Salwani handing a gift on behalf of Perwakilan Mumbai to Puan Mahani as a token of our appreciation.

17/12/2011 – AWARD & FELICITATION NIGHT

This auspicious event was held at The Ala Mode Banquet, Juhu on 17 Dec 2011, a very special night for all Malaysians residing in Mumbai. Participants who were involved in all events held by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai through out the year were given a certificate and consolation gift and not forgetting a trophy for all winners of Malaysia Sport’s Carnival 2011. This event also includes Perwakilan ladies contributions. Perwakilan ladies performed two dances, twist “Bila Larut Malam” and “Poco-poco”.

Man of the Night and Lady of the Night was monopolized by Mr. Faizal and Mrs. Enba Deva. Congratulations to both of them.

12/12/2011 – PERWAKILAN MUMBAI’S AGM 2011/2012

Perwakilan Mumbai’s Annual General Meeting 2011/2012 was held at the Official Resident of Consul General Malaysia in Mumbai (Santacruz) on 12 Dec 2011. The meeting started with the opening speech by our Advisor and Consul General Malaysia in Mumbai, En. Mohamed Hatimi Abbas followed by the President of Perwakilan Mumbai Puan Siti Hazura Mohd Ghaus. Members of Perwakilan also celebrated Christmas with the theme “Red & White”. Gifts where distributed by our Santarina Enba (exchange gift). The event ended with Western Food (Christmas menu) prepared by Perwakilan Mumbai members.
