SECURITY AND SAFETY ADVICE BY THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF MALAYSIA IN MUMBAI

To all Malaysian citizens in Mumbai,

In view of possible occurrences of floods in Mumbai during this monsoon season, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai wishes to advice all Malaysian citizens staying in the city to take necessary precautionary measures to avoid any difficulty or unwanted incident in particular during the forecast period of high tide between 22nd – 27th June 2009 and 21st – 26th July 2009.

2. Precautionary measure that can be taken may include the following:

i. To frequently check the weather forecast announced by the media or through the internet.

ii. To avoid going to low-lying areas and seafronts.

iii. To stay at home in the event of continues heavy rains over an hour.

iv. To stock up some essential food items, mineral water and some basic medicines.

v. To regularly inform friends, families of one’s whereabouts if it is still necessary to leave house.

vi. To immediately alert friends, families or this Consulate General in the event of getting trapped in flooded areas.

 

3. A contingency plan which will be implemented by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai during on emergency situation is attached herewith for your general guidance.

 

4. All Malaysian citizens are also strongly advised to notify the Consulate of any change of their addresses and telephones numbers.

CELEBRATION OF HIS MAJESTY SPB YANG DI-PERTUAN AGONG’S BIRTHDAY

In conjunction with the birthday of His Majesty SPB Yang Di-Pertuan Agong this year, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai had organised a brunch reception for the Malaysian community in Mumbai on Saturday, 6 June 2009.

Dressed in ‘smart casual’ clothes, the Malaysians consisting of the Consul General of Malaysia in Mumbai himself, Mr. Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah, and his wife Mrs. Zuhaila Abd Latif, staff from the Consulate General’s Office and those working in Mumbai gathered at A’La Mode Banquets, Juhu, Mumbai, India to join hands in the celebration. Their family members were also invited.

At about 11.45 am, emceed by the Personal Assistant to the Consul General, Mrs. Waheedabi Abdul Karim, the guests were invited to stand and sing the national anthem ‘Negaraku’. Subsequently, the Consul General of Malaysia in Mumbai, Mr. Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah was invited to officiate the reception and to give the opening speech. In the speech, he expressed his gratitude and thanked all guests for coming to the event. He then highlighted the benefits and the importance of keeping close contacts between the Malaysians in Mumbai and also notified the list of activities carried out by the PERWAKILAN MUMBAI for the ladies especially as well as for the children. The Consul General ended the speech by saying out loudly “Daulat Tuanku! Daulat Tuanku! Daulat Tuanku!”.

Guests were then invited to enjoy the buffet served by A’ La Mode Banquets and the desserts brought by some of the members of PERWAKILAN MUMBAI. The reception ended at about 2.30 p.m.

PERWAKILAN MUMBAI MELAWAT PUAN TINA ONG

Tanggal 2 Jun 2009, beberapa ahli PERWAKILAN MUMBAI telah melawat Puan Tina Ong di kediaman beliau di Bandra, Mumbai. Beliau yang telah selamat melahirkan anak lelaki yang sangat comel yang diberi nama Nickhel dua minggu lepas di Lilavati Hospital Mumbai, kelihatan begitu sihat, ceria dan berseri-seri pada hari tersebut.
